Welcome Future Students

Chris Sepersky - District 4K Enrollment CoordinatorDear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for considering the School District of South Milwaukee for your child’s 4K education. I can’t think of a better place for them to grow a love of learning, make friends that will last a lifetime, and join a school community that promotes equity, kindness, and good citizenship.
A bit about our program: Our professionally-developed curriculum focuses on growing learners in the areas of social-emotional development, math, language and literacy, and creativity and curiosity in a fun and age-appropriate setting. Also, when you join the South Milwaukee school community, it’s not just about our students, we include parent-child and family outreach activities throughout the school year!
The 4K program is available for children who will be 4 years old on or before September 1 of each school year. Our program is housed at all of our elementary schools: Blakewood, E.W. Luther, Lakeview, and Rawson. Each school has a full-day program, and Blakewood has a morning (8:30-11:40 a.m.) and afternoon (12:25-3:35 p.m.) half-day program in addition to its full-day program.
Our limited slots are in high demand, however, your student doesn’t necessarily have to attend the closest school to your home.  This means as many families as possible can take advantage of the 4K program. When your student enters the 5K program the following year, they will be assigned to their closest neighborhood school.
If we receive more applications than we have spots, a lottery is conducted with notifications released starting in May.
On behalf of myself and our teachers, I want to thank you again for your interest in our program. I hope to see your student thrive in our South Milwaukee schools. They’re in for an amazing educational experience!
