Open Enrollment (non-residents) Information

Open Enrollment is the public-school program that allows parents to apply for their children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside.

The 2024-2025 school year open enrollment application period is February 5 - April 30, 2024 at 4 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted for any reason. To complete an application please visit the DPI Open Enrollment website.

If you are currently attending school in the South Milwaukee School District through the Open Enrollment program, you DO NOT need to re-apply.  

If you are currently attending school in the South Milwaukee School District through a Tuition Waiver because you recently moved, or you recently moved and did not apply for Tuition Waiver, you need to apply for Open Enrollment. The School Board has guaranteed Open Enrollment status to all currently attending students in addition to the new placement numbers as listed below. However, you need to actually apply through Open Enrollment to continue attending here.

On January 24, 2024, the School Board will approve regular education Open Enrollment seats for the 2024-2025 school year:
