It has been a great year for our School District of South Milwaukee community! We have many positive things to celebrate and have a clear focus on the things we need to prioritize for next school year. As we head into the last week of school for our students, I want to share some updates.

Superintendent Diedre Roemer joined South Milwaukee in July 2023. Prior to that she worked in the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District starting in 2005 first as a teacher, then the Coordinator of Special Education, the Director of Leadership and Learning and for the last year as the Assistant Superintendent.
Prior to her time in West Allis-West Milwaukee, she taught in Minnesota, Iowa, Milwaukee, Hawaii and Illinois. She also serves as an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is a contributing author of Because of a Teacher by George Couros.
