What is ParentSquare?

The School District of South Milwaukee utilizes the ParentSquare platform for all school communications to families and community subscribers.

ParentSquare is a unified communications platform designed to keep families informed and create greater engagement and connection with the SDSM school community.

SDSM sends important updates and timely alerts using ParentSquare, primarily communicating through email and the ParentSquare app, based on user preferences. Text messages are used for certain communications; phone calls are reserved for emergencies and other time-sensitive events and are only used when necessary.

All families with a student enrolled at SDSM automatically receive school news and emergency notifications as long as there is an accurate email and cell phone number in Infinite Campus. If any of your contact information changes at any time, please change it in your Infinite Campus account. If your information is not up-to-date, you will not receive notifications from the district.

How to Change Your Notification Settings

We get pretty excited about what's happening in our schools. One thing we've heard from parents and caregivers is that they want consistent messaging and an easy way to find that information, no matter what school their student attends. That's why we introduced ParentSquare last year.

We've also heard that as ParentSquare is rolled out to all our classrooms you might feel a bit overwhelmed by messages. One of the great things about ParentSquare is that you can quiet everything down to one text or email (or both) per day, or shut off texts or emails for non-urgent messages.

The steps are lined out in the graphic above, or you can click the button below to see ParentSquare's explanation of how to edit your notification preferences. (It's also available in the help section of the app or website).

One thing that you can't change, is that you will be notified when something urgent happens.

That's important to you, and to your school.
