Regular attendance is important to success in school and we expect that when school is in session, students are engaged in learning. However, because we live in Wisconsin and our winter weather is unpredictable, the School District of South Milwaukee has established the following guidelines for decisions related to inclement weather. Please refer to these guidelines when you have questions about possible school closings.

The South Milwaukee and Cudahy school districts have entered into a preliminary agreement to explore a potential offer to purchase the building that was the former YMCA facility at 3244 E. College Avenue in Cudahy. The Districts’ goal is to transform it into a shared South Shore Community Recreation Center.

Middle School Health Teacher Kimberly Jaeger is piloting a way to get the most learning out of the Brain Health curriculum and will share it as an option for teachers statewide.

The Rocket of the Month feature is in its second year at the middle school. Students have their names and photos hung on the wall, and they get a shout-out during the announcements in the morning. A collection of the photos is also posted to the District’s Facebook and Instagram pages. In fact, the November Rockets of the Month Facebook post was the most-seen post of 2024, garnering close to 6,000 views.
