The Assistant Child Care Teacher students will again offer a spring preschool.  This preschool is offered at South Milwaukee High School for children aged 2-5. Children do not need to be toilet trained to participate. A snack will be provided during the preschool.

Our preschool is being offered at NO CHARGE again this year.
A donation for snack or art is appreciated, but not required. (Examples might be a box of crackers, bag of pretzels, a bottle of juice, a box of crayons, washable markers or a couple of glue sticks.)

Healthy play and quality learning experiences are the focus of the preschool, which is taught by high school students in the Assistant Child Care Teacher program. The students have completed a parenting and/or child development class prior to qualifying for the ACCT class. Ms. Jean Uttke, Family and Consumer Educator and certified child care teacher, supervises the students.

Upon successful completion of this experience, the SM students become certified assistant child care teachers.  If they continue the program during their senior year, and work in child care centers, they receive a lead teacher certification. High school students earn skills standards certificates from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

The preschoolers benefit by participating in a variety of play and learning experiences. They grow from the social opportunities of playing with many different children.  Each project or theme is planned with an enriching variety of age-appropriate activities. The high school student to child ratio is 1:3.

Registration forms are available in the High School and Middle School main offices or can be downloaded online.
